We are now at Odessa, a little further south from Lubbock.

The good news is that we are now done with the Texas government. We have our drivers licenses. They messed up Jan's and marked her as a male. Her temporary license says male, but her permanent license will be correct.
This part of West Texas is different than El Paso. This part of Texas is very, very flat and as far as you can see is small, waist high shrubs and dead grass. No hills and cactuses like around El Paso. This is definitely oil country and you can smell it.
The weather is hot. It's 104F (40C). It is record heat back in Lubbock. It will continue to be very hot all weekend. The problem is that we are heading back towards Dallas, where it is just as hot and more humid.
As you can see in the picture above, we are not staying at a resort. It is dirt and rocks. Yes, that is a dumpster right outside our trailer. The only reason for RV parks in this part of Texas is for people passing through (like us), and oil works who stay here for months and then move to a different area when the work moves.
