Placerville KOA

I don’t know if it is a fair thing to talk about a campground during the Covid-19 crisis or not. Business here at the campground is definitely not like normal. There are 24 trailers here and they are all long term rentals. There are no tents or cabin rentals allowed.

El Dorado county got mad about people from Sacramento and the Bay Area going up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. They own vacation homes, but going to Tahoe for the weekend doesn’t count as sheltering in place. This caused South Lake Tahoe to have a spike in Covid-19 cases. Now, you cannot stay in an RV Park or hotel unless it is for long term, no overnight or weekend stays. They will also fine you $1000 if you go to Tahoe and it’s not for essential business. This KOA has mostly PG&E contractors who are here for the summer.

The staff here extra time to clean up the park and get everything looking good for when it can open. It is very clean and well maintained.

It is a little weird here. It is very quiet with most of the campground empty. Most of the facilities are closed. They have a pool, miniature golf, playgrounds, a fishing pond with an island, a red room, a petting zoo that is really just two goats, and a store. The pond and the dog park are the only things open.

There are wild geese running around. You can see one in Brie’s picture. We have seen 2 babies, but I didn’t have my camera with me. I will add a picture when I have one.
